"It is well in place, with the usual delicacy of the vintage, with a Margalais profile! ~ La RVF

"Prieuré-Lichine's bouquet is characterized by red berry notes that underline its freshness. The wine does not seek power, which it has never done; its focus is on finesse and elegance. As a result, the wine is harmonious, slender, but nevertheless endowed with tannins that ensure a certain density and provide a good foundation. A wine that's easy to digest, sapid, and full of flavour" (Yves Beck 2023) - Delivery in wooden cases possible for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected).

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated wine (guide 2022) 93-94/100

Domaine rated (guide 2023) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)

About the domain :

With its complex parcels of land spread over different parts of the appellation, this cru is gradually becoming a benchmark for attentive observers. The new vat room allows parcel-by-parcel vinification, giving each parcel its own chance, and the viticultural choices inspired by the estate's consultant, Stéphane Derenoncourt, explain the quality of the latest harvest. The wine has all the finesse and grace expected, in an immediately perceptible form, and the prices remain reasonable.

Guide Hachette des vins

Domaine noté (guide 2023) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the domain :

Founded by the monks of Vertheuil Abbey, the former priory of Saint-Didier de Cantenac was already producing a renowned wine under the Ancien Régime. But it owes its fame - and its current name: the cru was then called Prieuré-Cantenac - to Alexis Lichine. This famous American-Russian owner and wine merchant, nicknamed the "Pope of Wine" and author of the long-revered Encyclopedia of Wines and Spirits of All Countries, acquired the cru in 1951 and brought it back to life. Owned by the Ballande Bordeaux group since 1999, it comprises 80 hectares of vines on the heart of the Cantenac-Margaux plateau. Technical management has been in the hands of Étienne Charrier since 2009.

Wine rated (guide 2022) 92-94/100

Domaine rated (guide 2023) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

Precise, with a supple body, it is well in place, with the usual delicacy of the cru, with its Margaux profile. A tender, refined wine.

About the domain :

Since 1999, the vineyard has belonged to the Ballande group, based in New Caledonia. Since the new vat room came on stream in 2013, we've seen significant progress. The wines, which sometimes lacked volume and depth compared to the best, have become much denser. This new ambition and the resources that have been given were necessary. Reasonable prices make this a good deal for wine-lovers.

About the wine:

This elegant wine has a balanced density due to a firm layer of tannins. Its position in the southern Médoc gives it real softness and balance. Drink from 2028.

About the wine:

Prieuré-Lichine's bouquet is characterized by red berry notes that underline its freshness. The wine doesn't seek power, which it never has; its focus is finesse and elegance. As a result, the wine is harmonious and slender, yet with tannins that ensure a certain density and a good foundation. A wine that's easy to digest, sapid, and rapacious! Vert de Vin

Vert de Vin

Rated wine (guide 2022) 93-94/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About the wine:

The nose is fruity, elegant and offers fine concentration (with just the right amount of fruit). Notes of elegant/pulpey blackcurrant, violet and, more lightly, licorice are combined with touches of graphite, crushed red berries and a hint of crushed blue berries and bourbon vanilla. The palate is fruity, full-bodied and greedy, with good definition, precision, purity, freshness, a little spherical fruit and good definition. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy cherry, violet and, more lightly, blackcurrant, combined with small touches of vanilla, a subtle hint of licorice, graphite, chocolate and toast. Good length.
