"What a fresh, fruity bouquet, with nuances of red berries and licorice. Right from the start, this wine makes you want to drink it. Its sapid, digestible and juicy character on the palate also contributes to this". (Yves Beck 2021) - The Delon family, head of the famous Châteaux Léoville Las Cases, Clos du Marquis and Nénin, also manages the Potensac estate in the Médoc AOC. Thanks to their unrivalled expertise, their wines offer excellent consistency and value for money. As witnessed by Chapelle de Potensac 2019, a 2nd wine that's accessible and tasty!

Château Potensac
Médoc
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (2021 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
Arguably the most esteemed Cru in the Médoc appellation, Potensac owes its success to the quality of the winemaking teams assembled by the Delon family, owners of the château, who work to the same exacting standards as at Léoville-Las Cases. The vineyard's great age, with some Cabernet plots over 80 years old, does not prevent it from being perfectly productive! The wine possesses classic style to the highest degree, with notes of cedar on the nose and spice in the tannin, and plenty of firmness. It is currently evolving towards more immediate finesse and suppleness. The latest vintages are majestic and classy, and will console those who can no longer afford the most famous crus.
Decanter
Wine rated (2020 guide) 90/100
About the wine:
The nose is marked by notes of raspberry leaf, giving a floral touch that is enriched by raspberry fruit on the attack. This wine is tasty and juicy, accessible but with a hint of tannin on the finish. A pleasant second wine. 2023-2034
Guide Hachette des vins
Domaine noté (guide 2021) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the domain :
Situated on one of the highest points in the northern Médoc, this renowned cru, managed by Jean-Hubert Delon (Léoville Las Cases), extends over most of its 84 ha on clay-gravel hilltops with a limestone subsoil and a high proportion of gravel, a terroir similar to that of Saint-Estèphe. Not to be missed.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Rated (guide 2022) 88/100 (Good wine)
About the wine:
Production of La Chapelle de Potensac 2019 has been halved as vines deemed to have been planted on unsuitable sites have been uprooted. The result of this draconian selection of raw materials is an improvement in quality. Notes of cherries, sweet berries and forest floor precede a medium- to full-bodied, ample and vibrant palate, framed by powdery tannins that assert themselves on the slightly grippy finish. 2021-2035
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Domaine rated (guide 2021) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the domain :
As bargain hunters know, Château Potensac is the flagship of the Médoc appellation, thanks to the 300,000 bottles produced each year and the consistency of its quality. The younger brother of Léoville Las Cases, it benefits from all the team's know-how and, thanks to the ageing of the vineyard, now produces the best wine in its appellation. Delicious after two or three years in bottle, it is also capable of long ageing. Its style blends generosity and precision, without heaviness or vulgarity.
Jancis Robinson
Wine rated (2020 guide) 16/20
About the wine:
Less Merlot than usual. Earthy, brambly fruit. Some sweetness on the attack, but remains fresh. Quite lean, with grainy tannins offering a light structure and a certain persistence. Slightly crisp finish.
James Suckling
