Moulis-en-Médoc
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))
About the domain :
It's now Mélanie Barton-Sartorius, a very serious and enthusiastic winemaker, who is applying her oenological know-how combined with her family atavism to this estate, bought by her parents five years ago. The results are convincing. A wine of character, with the exuberance of the moulis, the breed of the terroir, the balance resulting from good vinification and grapes picked at just the right moment. Definitely a property to watch, one that already counts in the appellation.
Guide Hachette des vins
Domaine noté (guide 2020) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the domain :
Commissioned by a neo-Louis XIII château dating from 1853, this cru constitutes a beautiful unit of 220 hectares in a single block, 58 of which are vineyards. In August 2011, the estate was purchased by Lilian and Michel Barton-Sartorius, whose family already owned Châteaux Lalande and Langoa in Saint-Julien.

About the wine:
Charming, easy-digesting, medium-bodied wine with crisp red fruit. Good freshness and tension on the palate.

Rated domain (2022 guide) City
About the wine:
The 2015 seduces, in the style of the family's wines, with a beautiful expression of fruit and an expressive, suave palate.
About the domain :
This long-established estate has enjoyed a new lease of life since it was bought by the Barton family (Léoville Barton and Langoa Barton). Anthony's granddaughter, Mélanie Sartorius, now runs it. The velvety, suave character of the family's highly successful wines can now be found here. Very accessible and recommendable wines.
