"This is one of three biodynamically-managed estates owned by Gonzague and Claire Lurton. The wine is generous and has a firm structure, in the style of the estate. Ample, with a dry body but coated with black fruits, blackberries, blackcurrants, it promises great things. The finish is clean, limpid and crisp. Drink from 2024." (Wine Enthusisat - 2018) Delivery in wooden case for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (excluding Point Relais delivery method).

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Estate rated (2018 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the domain :

Part of the vineyard adjoins that of Château Latour and should contribute to the character of this Pauillac. Significant progress is expected in the future, as in 2013 owner Claire Villars-Lurton decided to convert her vines to biodynamic viticulture. This was necessary, as the wine lacked finesse in many vintages.

Guide Hachette des vins

Guide Hachette des vins

Domaine noté Award-winning wines (Wines from this producer regularly win awards in the guide)

About the domain :

This cru owes its name to the Libéral family, brokers who owned the property in the 18th century, and to its geographical location: half of its 30ha of vines are planted on the Bages plateau, behind Pichon-Baron, the other half adjoining Ch. Latour. Acquired (and replanted) by the Cruses in 1960, the estate passed into the hands of the Merlaut-Villars family in 1983, who restored it to its former glory, notably under the impetus of Claire Villars-Lurton, who has been at the helm since 1999 and is also the owner of Ch. Ferrière (cru classé de Margaux).

Domaine noté (guide 2018) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and that, as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the wine:

A new packaging accompanies the best of the estate's vintages. We praise its beautiful intensity and refinement, with a soft, polished finish.

About the domain :

Owned by the Merlaut family, Haut-Bages Libéral is managed by Claire Villars-Lurton, along with Châteaux Ferrière and La Gurgue. Here, she is working to restore this fifth growth, which boasts a splendid parcel of land very close to Latour, to the lustre it deserves. Her approach is one of elegance and refinement. If the wine sometimes seems a little lacking in flesh, its tannic definition has progressed well.
