One of my favorite wines of the vintage, it is a wonderful example of high-definition winemaking, still offering plenty of Pauillac boldness. The nose is dark and slightly salty, full of black fruit and toasty aromas. The palate is bright and lively, with clarity and precision in the berries, juicy and mouthwatering acidity—there is so much energy in the glass. Chalky, graphite-like tannins fill the mouth, providing structure and clear markers of terroir with lingering minerality on the finish. Perfectly balanced, with incredible delectableness and drinkability. Persistent with a long finish. Superb effort." Beautiful dark, intense purple color
Nose
Refined and complex with notes of blackcurrant, pencil lead, cedar, licorice, and spices
Mouth
With beautiful tannins, lovely aromatic freshness, and moderate alcohol levels, it fits into a more classic Bordeaux model after two warmer vintages. A new great vintage, which completes a trilogy with 2018 and 2019.

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2021 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, the pride of French vineyards)
About the estate:
World-renowned for its opulence and consistency, this Pauillac fifth growth has belonged to the Cazes family since the 1930s and has gained considerable renown since Jean-Michel Cazes took over its management in 1973. Following the successful handover from Jean-Michel to his son Jean-Charles, the wine has maintained all its vigor and health in recent vintages, retaining its depth and gaining in tannic precision. The château produces an increasingly stylish dry white Bordeaux, but we are still waiting for a more precise wine for the second selection, Echo. A new cuvier is under construction, and it promises to be monumental, because it is important to maintain one's standing in a highly competitive world!

Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
The name of this wine combines that of the Irish merchants who owned it in the 18th century with that of a hamlet located at the southern gates of Pauillac. Its success since the 1930s is the result of the continuous work of three generations of Cazes: Jean-Charles, André, and Jean-Michel. The contribution of the latter, who has now handed over the reins to his son Jean-Charles, has been essential. Its success is linked to the quality of the wines, produced from a vast 100-hectare vineyard, and also to a genuine development strategy, including wine trading and tourist infrastructure (hotel-restaurant, shops).

Rated estate (2022 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About wine:
The first vintage vinified in the new vat room is no trial run. The wine is spectacular, carried by bright fruit and notes of spice and white pepper. The finish is perfectly savory.
About the estate:
Jean-Charles Cazes is now responsible for managing this prestigious Pauillac estate. However, his father, Jean-Michel, an exceptional figure in the Médoc region, tireless ambassador for Bordeaux wines, and architect of this fifth growth's reputation, is never far away. The magnificent family estate, superbly located on the Bages plateau, has produced an impressive series of wines without a single weak point since the early 1970s, imposing its rich, seductive and immediately accessible style, while being capable of aging with grace. Now equipped with a spectacular, brand-new, state-of-the-art winery, the cru is more on track than ever, and its popularity with many wine lovers is only to be expected.

About wine:
A beautifully layered red wine with notes of blackcurrant, hazelnut, and pencil lead, and fine, velvety tannins. It is full-bodied and reserved. It is like a ball of polished, well-integrated tannins with a cashmere-like texture. Very long and impressive. It needs time. A formidable Lynch. Best after 2027.

About wine:
This is the first vintage vinified in the new Lynch-Bages cellar. The quest for precision has therefore been optimized thanks to tools that enable more relevant vinification techniques. The result lives up to expectations, or rather projections, as the ambitions were already well established beforehand! The wine has density, pep, and tannins of rare precision. It is this last point that probably highlights the ambitions of the Cazes family. The wine is deep, linear, compact, and has a tannic structure that will take it far. Such serenity and quiet strength at Lynch-Bages! A great success! 2028-2050
Vert de Vin
Wine rated (2021 guide) 98/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)
About wine:
The nose is fresh and fruity, offering concentration, a fine texture, elegance, and a subtle straightforwardness and complexity. There are notes of bright, fresh black berries, morello cherry, violet and, more subtly, wild strawberry, combined with hints of ripe wild red berries, blueberry and subtle touches of cardamom, black tea, cherry blossom, graphite, subtle hints of dark chocolate and toast, and an imperceptible hint of cumin. The palate is fruity, fresh, balanced, precise and offers juiciness, minerality, nice definition, a certain darkness as well as richness, beautiful energy, a discreetly tight structure, aromatic purity, fullness/harmony, nice complexity, multi-layeredness and energy. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy blackcurrant, bright boysenberry and, more subtly, wild strawberry, combined with hints of violet, juicy blueberry, freshness, bright violet plum, racy minerality (almost discreetly iodized), blueberry, star anise, zan, as well as discreet hints of tobacco, cardamom, and black licorice stick. The tannins are elegant, precise, massive yet delicate and mellow. A very nice/good bitterness on the finish/persistence. Notes of chocolate and a hint of caramelization/brown sugar in the background/persistence. This is a rich, fresh wine, full of subtlety and harmony.
