"A magnificent and seductive Pauillac, racy and exceptionally polished! ~ Vinous "
"Medium to deep garnet-purple-colored Pontet-Canet 2017 delivers superb notes of rosehip tea, lilac, cinnamon stick, clove, dried leaves and undergrowth, with a core of kirsch, raspberry coulis, warm plums and red and black currants, as well as a hint of pencil shavings. Medium-bodied, the palate is refreshing, mineral and wonderfully elegant, with a well-played texture of accessible, mellow tannins and a long, fragrant finish. Magnificent." Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2021) 5*Stars (Outstanding producers, those who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and the world)
About the domain :
This cru has become one of the most sought-after in the Médoc, thanks to an extraordinary tandem: Jean-Michel Comme, a charismatic manager with a passion for authenticity, and Alfred Tesseron, an equally committed owner-manager ready to take any risk. Their complicity has enabled the conversion of the vineyard to organic viticulture, inspiring all the neighbors, and the perfecting of a work tool adapted to their quest for truth in the expression of terroir and vintage. There are no more second wines; the whole harvest makes a great wine. In terms of style, in recent vintages a proportion of the wine has been matured in concrete vats, balancing the woodiness to perfection and releasing all the aromatic purity of an exceptional juice.

Domaine rated (guide 2022) 3*Stars (They represent the excellence of the French vineyard. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wines is always a magical experience)
About the domain :
Owned by the Tesseron family, Pontet-Canet owes a great deal to the hard work of Jean-Michel Comme, architect of the transition to biodynamic viticulture over the past thirty years. He left the estate in May 2020, handing over to Mathieu Bessonnet. In any case, the cru has been launched, and there's nothing to suggest that he won't continue along the path he's blazed. It's up to Justine Tesseron, Alfred's daughter and now at the helm, to keep Pontet-Canet in a class of its own. A tour of the winery, horse stables and winemaking facilities reveals just how far Pontet-Canet has taken its vision of excellence and respect for nature to the extreme, whatever the naysayers may say. As a pioneer, Pontet-Canet has set a strong trend in the Médoc that is now setting an example.

About the wine:
The intensity of this wine's perfume is remarkable. Firm yet velvety, the tannins are a prelude to pure, opulent blackberry fruit and balanced acidity. The wine's lines are clean and direct, a true promise of aging. Drink from 2024.
Vinous A. Galloni
Wine rated (2019 guide) 95/100
About the wine:
A gorgeous, seductive Pauillac, Pontet-Canet 2017 is racy and exceptionally polished, with floral top notes that bring out the natural brightness of the red-toned fruit. Super-silky tannins add to the wine's immediacy and pure allure. The 2017 was the first wine made with the new sorting table. About half of the fruit was de-stemmed by hand. As always, to visit Pontet-Canet is to step back into another era, a time when wines were made much more manually than they are today. Here, that means punching down and pumping over by hand, without electricity. Tasted 3 times.

Wine rated (2019 guide) 96/100
About the wine:
It has an ethereal transparency with a fresh nose of red fruits and cherries. Notes of baked earth and dried flowers. Plums too. Quite complex. The palate has a very detailed tannic texture with attractive blackcurrants and blueberries that hold very long, fresh and pure. Fruity and fresh. Try from 2023.
Le Figaro vins
Rated wine (2018 guide) 98/100
About the wine:
Fruity wine, very ripe, deep, zan, vibrant, round, coated tannins, lots of vigor, pep, long, dynamic finish. Can be cleaving.
Vert de Vin
Rated wine (2020 guide) 97/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)
About the wine:
The nose is elegant and fresh, offering lovely finesse, concentration, greed, a fine incisiveness and fine power. Notes of blackberry, blackcurrant and, more lightly, fresh licorice stick, ripe berries combined with hints of red berries, iris/lilac, graphite, racy minerality and fine hints of violet, sweet spices and green cardamom. The palate is fruity, fresh, mineral and elegant, with good definition, acidity, smoothness, juicy fruit, good substance and roundness. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of fleshy blackberry, fleshy/juicy blackcurrant and, more lightly, violet, combined with fine touches of licorice, lily and hints of graphite, tonka bean, camphor, lilac and Cuban pepper. Elegant, well-managed tannins. Good length. Discreet hint of toasted hazelnut on the finish. Gourmet finish.
