"Typical of the appellation with succulent fruit, discreet spices and subtle oak!"

"L'Esprit de Chevalier 2020 has a highly perfumed floral bouquet, with pressed iris and peony mingling with blackberry and blueberry. The style is classic and well mastered. The palate is medium-bodied, with concentrated black fruits, enhanced by white pepper and a touch of Provence herbs. Light viscosity, power and a generous finish. This is a superb 'Second Vin' that should give drinking pleasure for 12-15 years." (Vinous 2022)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (guide 2021) 5*Stars (Outstanding producers, those who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and the world)

About the domain :

Here's an estate held in high esteem by all, with a superb single vineyard surrounding the château, among the best cultivated in Bordeaux. Olivier Bernard is a tireless ambassador for Bordeaux wines around the world. He is also one of those who most intimately know the value of their product, thanks to daily tastings in the company of the countless visitors to the estate, a pioneer in welcoming the public. The whites are the most racy in the commune, the reds models of Bordeaux classicism in their proportions and flavor. The latest reds are impressive for their extra body and complexity. Beautiful nuances, tension and energy for the white esprit-de-chevalier, which is the perfect reflection of the great wine. The 2016, 2017 and 2018 reds and whites are simply top-notch, and the estate richly deserves its 5-star rating.

Domaine rated (guide 2022) 2*Stars (These great estates, often endowed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the domain :

Since 1983, the Bernard family has been doing its utmost to keep this fine estate at the forefront of the appellation. Thanks to state-of-the-art technical equipment and a vineyard that is now old enough to produce great grapes, the wines are irreproachable, both white and red. The vineyard, located in one of the cooler areas of the appellation, on the edge of the Landes forest, is tended like a garden. The white grapes are sorted with extreme care, and vinification has become considerably more sophisticated, without altering the style or class of this highly reputed wine. Chevalier embodies finesse and elegance, without compromising ageing potential.

About the wine:

A pure, refreshing nose, like breathing in the fresh mountain air on a sunny but cool spring day. Mineral on the palate, with concentrated fruit, both unctuous and crystalline. 2027-2040

Wine rated (guide 2023) 92/100

About the wine:

Black cherry, smoke, roasted nuts, flowers and red fruits lead the bouquet. Clean, smooth, silky and polished on the attack, with nuances of cocoa, spice and licorice accompanying the sweet, ripe red fruits on the palate, this wine is already very enjoyable and should be perfect for short-term consumption while waiting for the Grand Vin to develop. 2023-2032.
