"A seductive nose that gives the sensation of carrying a basket of red fruits ready to jam, with also some vegetal, herbaceous, springtime notes. On the palate, the elegant hold and creamy texture that characterize the first wine are just as present here, with a sophisticated, chocolate finish." (Le Figaro Vin 2022)

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2020 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
Close to the grand vin in a slightly slimmer format, its main quality remains its balance and Bordeaux classicism.
Decanter
Wine rated (guide 2022) 94/100
About the wine:
Wow, dark berries and violets on the nose, so sensual, rich and round. Beautifully fresh on the palate, there's a burst of red fruit juiciness but also a lovely refreshing coolness right from the start. A touch of blue fruit, but there's also strawberry, raspberry and red cherry. Supple tannins with a slightly chalky grip coat the palate, giving it structure and body. So linear and straight but also layered. Excellent!

About the domain :
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Domaine rated 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are a must-have in the cellars of discerning wine lovers, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production).
About the domain :
"Cultivating a personal and terribly endearing style, this property, acquired in 1998 by American banker Robert Wilmers, offers a wine of unique uprightness and class.Véronique, Sanders, granddaughter of the former owner, carefully manages this classified growth on a daily basis, with the highly competent technical director Gabriel Vialard. She produces a harmonious, supremely well-balanced red wine, respecting Bordeaux traditions, but never overdoing it in an attempt to surpass the wine's very natural profile. The terroir of gravel over iron dross gives the wines a seductive Morello cherry bouquet, and a velvety flesh that is unrivalled in this part of Léognan. It's hard to fault a single vintage: all, with their inimitable, long, fine style, achieve excellence. As with any self-respecting great wine, Haut-Bailly can be austere in its youth. It will only truly reveal itself after a few years' cellaring.

Yves Beck
Wine rated (guide 2021) 93/100
About the wine:
Elegance and finesse are the hallmarks of Haut-Bailly II. The bouquet is complex and filigree. Floral and fruity notes stand out. The finesse is also well underlined on the palate. The tannins are precise, well-integrated, and provide the backbone. Good fruity expression on the finish. This wine sets the tone!
Anthocyanes - Yohan Castaing

About the wine:
Blackcurrant, raspberry, spices, slightly smoky, floral. Straightforward, taut, fine overall precision for a fresh, delicate wine. Excellent management of acidity and harvest date. Beautiful tannins, tension and energy. A landmark Haut-Bailly II. Superb! One of the most sensual.
