" The 2014 Olivier was one of the appellation's very pleasant surprises, and presents a clearly superior wine thanks to its successful ageing. It has a perfumed bouquet of great purity, concentrated with mineral scents, flint filtering through the mix of red and black fruits. The palate is well-balanced, with supple tannins, a lively acidity line and well-integrated oak notes. More substance than previous vintages, with a fine note of pepper and cedar on the finish. Tasted twice with consistent notes." (Wine Advocate 2017 - Robert Parker)

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domain rated (2020 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
In addition to its 55-hectare vineyard, this magnificent estate on the outskirts of Bordeaux has preserved a large part of its forests and meadows. In the early 2000s, the Bethmann family undertook major renovations and entrusted management of the estate to Laurent Lebrun. His rigor and fine analysis of the terroir have led to a quantum leap in the quality of the wines. The white wine, which traditionally contains a good proportion of Semillon, has become complex and elegant, with a well-asserted personality; the 2017 bluffed us. The reds, much better vinified, express their excellent terroir with greater precision, and are expressive and energetic.

About the wine:
The 2014 Olivier was one of the appellation's very pleasant surprises, presenting a distinctly superior wine thanks to its successful ageing. It has a perfumed bouquet of great purity, concentrated with mineral/cold stone scents filtering through the mix of red and black fruits. The palate is well-balanced, with supple tannins, a lively acidity line and well-integrated oak notes. More substance than previous vintages, with a fine note of pepper and cedar on the finish. Ideally, it should be kept in bottle for a few more years before being enjoyed over the next 15 to 18 years. Tasted twice with consistent notes.

Domaine rated (2020 guide) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winegrowers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the wine:
Note the beautiful maturity brought by Merlot (41%) in the 2014 red, structured by Cabernet-Sauvignon from old and younger vines, perfumed by 4% Petit Verdot (new to this vintage). This vintage takes things up a notch.
About the domain :
In just ten years, this Graves cru classé has undergone one of the most important changes in the appellation. Under the impetus of Laurent Lebrun, the wines have reached an excellent level, and the commitment of Alexandre de Bethmann, the owner, is undeniable. He has mobilized considerable financial resources to restructure the vineyard. It has to be said that this property is absolutely magnificent! Nestled in the middle of a wooded area, it rests on a gravelly terroir set on a splendid, well-ventilated hilltop, ideal for producing great Cabernet Sauvignon. The latest vintages produced bear witness to this new dynamic.
