" This vintage is close to perfection. This wine made a strong impression at tasting, seducing us with its punchy fruit, mingled with a touch of butterscotch and spices, and its ample, savory mouthfeel. The tannin is sumptuous, tight but fine, without harshness, punctuating a rich, generous, very dense body. A little more freshness would have taken it even further". Wine rated (2019 guide) 94/100
Domaine rated (2020 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
Very racy nose with just the right amount of concentration and freshness, the tannin is stylish and deep. This long-distance runner will reveal its aromatics over the next few years. This is a great wine.
About the domain :
By entrusting technical management to Christophe Dussotour, Philippe Casteja has been an inspired owner. The work in both vineyard and cellar is as respectful as possible of this terroir, ideally situated in the center of the plateau. This cru is one of the most little-known on Pomerol's legendary plateau. The great finesse and freshness of the current production offer a wine that ages harmoniously.
Decanter
Wine rated (2019 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
An elegant but serious wine, with tasty tannins and fruit that aren't drying, despite a rather obvious austerity. There's plenty of cassis and smoky bitter chocolate in the glass, with a floral character that comes out after a few moments. This wine is made to age, but if you want to drink an earlier wine from the Castéja stable, opt for the excellent Croix du Casse. They have kept extraction extremely gentle and fermentation at 26°C to ensure that the tannins are not too powerful. A yield of 34 hl/ha. To be enjoyed between 2026 and 2036.

Domaine rated (guide 2021) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the domain :
This lovely estate, located not far from the church in Pomerol, belongs to the Castéja family. As such, vinification is overseen by the team set up by the late Denis Dubourdieu. Never very demonstrative at primeur tastings, the wines nevertheless possess a fine breed and age gracefully in a very classic spirit.

About the wine:
Lovely aromas of lavender, fresh blueberry, plum, pine cone and mocha. Full-bodied, with firm, creamy tannins. Fresh and rich at the same time, with homogeneous layers. Smooth on the finish. To be tried from 2024.

Rated wine (guide 2022) 93/100
About the wine:
Beautiful dark red, solid, intense, very slightly evolved. Very aromatic, fruity, ripe and fine nose. Nuances of ink, blackcurrant and smoke with agitation. A touch of vanilla. Delicate on the entry, mellow and rich in the middle, very aromatic, the wine melts on the palate and evolves energetically and powerfully, towards a beautiful, tasty yet delicately woven finish. A very good wine.

Tastingbook - Markus Del Monego

About the wine:
Deep purple-red color with violet and black tints at the core. Very elegant, expressive and complex nose. Black cherries, blackberries and a hint of flowers in the background. Fine roasted and vanilla aromas. Opulent palate with ripe tannins, charming fruit, plums and black cherries. Discreet spices in the background. A classic style with excellent length.
