"The best value for money on the Right Bank ~ Terre de Vins "
"A pure velvet color, already magnificent, but nothing compared to the bewitching, rich nose, with bright, intense, suave scents of black cherry, leather fruit, hemmed in with a subtle touch of Havana. A very full attack, followed by a tight, mineral palate. There was plenty of ripe substance, which the estate team brought to bear on elegance. Melted tannins, silky chewiness. Very great progress". Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the domain :
Yann and Karl Todeschini have taken the measure of this family estate in Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse: it comprises 34 hectares of single-hold vineyards on four types of terroir dominated by clay-limestone sectors. The wines are dense, powerful and compact, and must be aged or decanted 2 hours before serving.
Guide Hachette des vins
Domaine noté (guide 2022) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the domain :
The vineyards, founded in 1951 by Jean Petit, comprise 37 ha in a single block of Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, on a terroir rich in asteriated limestone (Mangot, an ancient cru mentioned as early as 1510), and 16 ha in Castillon (La Brande), rigorously tended since 1989 by Jean-Guy and Anne-Marie Todeschini, joined in 2008 by their sons Karl and Yann. The vineyard has been fully certified organic since 2020, and is currently undergoing conversion to biodynamic viticulture.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Rated (guide 2022) 92/100 (Outstanding wine)
Domaine noté (guide 2022) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
Overflowing from the glass with notes of plus, sweet red berries and hints of licorice, Mangot 2019 is medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with nicely powdered tannins and a succulent core of fruit. Generous, charming and lively, it has transformed very well. Traditional barrels are complemented by amphorae in the winery. 2021-2043
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Wine rated (guide 2024) 92/100
About the wine:
The 2019 gains substance, with additional textural finesse. The energetic finish stretches the wine.

About the domain :
First mentioned in 1546, Château Mangot has survived the centuries to become a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru in the commune of Saint-Etienne-de- Lisse, in the eastern part of the appellation. In 1952, Simone and Jean Petit bought Mangot with the idea of restoring the estate to its former glory. Within 30 years, they had increased the estate from 5 to 37 hectares. In 1989, their daughter and her husband, Anne-Marie and Jean-Guy Todeschini, took over, not without restructuring the vineyard and modernizing the facilities. In 2008, Karl and Yann, after studies and internships in France and abroad, joined their parents to bring enthusiasm, precision and modernity. What do these 3 generations have in common? One philosophy: to act simply and as naturally as possible, using common sense. In order to preserve the balance of nature, we have opted for the "lutte raisonnée" (integrated pest management) method. In the winery, we work on a parcel-by-parcel basis to ensure that each of the estate's 22 parcels expresses its full potential. The family also owns 25 hectares in Castillon, with Château le Brande.

Yves Beck
Wine rated (guide 2021) 94/100
About the wine:
A bouquet of great precision and relevance, combining intensity and complexity. Chalky, fruity notes. On the palate, the wine is juicy, compact and endowed with tight tannins. Tight tannins lend breadth and depth, while the acid structure is crisp and incisive. A wine of character, with a juicy, slightly saline finish. It has a few years ahead of it. 2025-2044
Vert de Vin
Rated wine (guide 2021) 94/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)
About the wine:
The nose is fresh, racy and offers brightness, power, intensity and a discreetly tight grain. There are notes of bright blackcurrant, wild blackberry and, more lightly, ripe/pulpy wild black berries, combined with a touch of violet, graphite and hints of camphor, sense of place (local biotop/Mediterranean barrier), blueberry, cocoa, toast and an imperceptible hint of roasted/grilled herbs. The palate is fruity, elegant and well-balanced, with a lovely acidic structure, smoothness, juiciness, freshness, lovely acidity, an airy approach, fine grain and a certain crispness of fruit. A lovely finesse in the power of the structure. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of crunchy/juicy blackcurrant, juicy redcurrant and, more lightly, fresh flowers, combined with hints of fresh/crisp blueberry, camphor, graphite and cardamom, as well as fine hints of cocoa, toast and a subtle hint of star anise (in the background). The tannins are precise and finely powdered.
