"Generous nose of blackcurrant. It's dense and punchy, chewy, with fine but grippy tannins that make an immediate statement. I love the texture, it envelops the palate in the best possible way - refined, with bright red fruit and hints of licorice, especially on the finish. It's all balanced with plenty to enjoy. Drink between 2023 and 2030. (Decanter 2022) - Delivered in wooden cases for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (excluding Point Relais delivery).

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (guide 2021) 5*Stars (Outstanding producers, those who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and the world)

About the domain :

For over a century, the estate belonged to the Charmolüe family (now based in Provence, at Château Romanin). Bought in 2005 by Martin and Olivier Bouygues, the cru has continued on its path of excellence. The new owners and their teams have been careful not to modify the style, but to perfect viticulture and vinification to adapt them to the ecological and cultural demands of our time. The second wine dame-de-montrose, produced in appreciable volume, has progressed in regularity and expression of terroir. The latest vintages, at the top of the Médoc, are more than a match for the premier crus classés.

Domaine rated (guide 2021) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning connoisseurs).

About the domain :

Entrepreneurs Martin and Olivier Bouygues have owned this famous classified growth since 2006. They make the most of one of the Médoc's finest terroirs, which on numerous occasions in the past has distinguished itself by producing wines that can reach, or even surpass, the level of the premier grands crus classés. When the year is hot and dry, as was the case in 2003, 2009, 2010 or even 2011, Montrose offers an extraordinary distinction. Hervé Berland, who now runs the estate, takes it to a level of definition and precision never before seen here. He's closing in on a third star.

Juicy and pleasantly chewy with milk chocolate, walnut and blackcurrant flavours. Medium-bodied, creamy and savory. Second wine of Montrose. Drink after 2024.

Wine rated (guide 2022) 94/100

About the wine:

Complex bouquet of good intensity, revealing fruity and floral nuances through scents of violets, blackberries and black pepper. A touch of malt. Good density on the palate, excellent symbiosis between lively acid structure and fine tannins. An imposing Dame de Montrose! 2024-2044

Rated wine (guide 2022) 93/100

About the wine:

On the nose, there are dark, ripe, sweet red berries, surrounded by cedar, tobacco, spices and wet forest scents. There's more than enough ripe, soft, sweet, crisp, elegant and earthy red fruit with a touch of spice on the finish to offer plenty of pleasure with just a year or two of cellaring. This is an excellent vintage for La Dame de Montrose to drink until the Grand Vin has a chance to develop and mature. Drink from 2024 to 2040.
