"Logically more often in the spotlight for its white wines, this Chablis domaine shows here that it's also at home with pinot noir. In the glass, an intense Burgundy in color and aroma (red fruits, fine spicy notes), which combines dense, round body with a well-balanced freshness and tannins of real finesse, with a woodiness that remains in its place, without excess. Balance on all levels". (Guide Hachette des Vins 2021)

Bettane & Desseauve

Domain rated (2021 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the domain :

This friendly winegrowing couple have taken a step forward by opting for organic viticulture, which began to be certified with the 2014 vintage. The beautiful ripeness of the grapes is well-balanced by a tonic acidity derived from the limestone soils, and barrel vinification is increasingly respectful of the nuances of the terroirs. Petit-Chablis is regularly remarkable for its richness, while the Yonne red is one of the region's very best. The Premier Crus of the Poinchy area (Léchet, Beauroy, Fourchaume) are today reliable sources for wine lovers. Like others around it, the domaine unfortunately suffered from the climatic conditions of the 2016 vintage. Alas, 2017 began with a terrible frost... Hence the cuvée grain-de-survie, in the trade, to offer a little wine to the usual clientele. The generic petits-chablis and chablis don't have the same precision as usual, so the premiers crus will hold up better. We can't wait for the 2018s!

Domain rated (guide 2022) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the wine:

Logically more often seen for its white wines, this Chablis domaine shows here that it is also at home with pinot noir. In the glass, an intense Burgundy in color and aroma (red fruits, fine spicy notes), which combines dense, round body with a well-balanced freshness and truly fine tannins, with a woodiness that remains in its place, without excess. Balance on all levels.

About the domain :

Based in Chablis, Isabelle and Denis Pommier run an 18-hectare estate that was created in 1990 and has a very consistent quality record. After 15 years of integrated vineyard management, they obtained organic certification in 2014.

Wine rated (2021 guide) 91/100

Domain rated (guide 2022) Selected (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the domains that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the wine:

Flavors of stone and smoke in the Pinot Noir, a full-bodied wine with fine licorice, more structured than usual.

About the domain :

Isabelle and Denis Pommier set up in the village of Poinchy in 1990, with 2 hectares of vines (now 23). Some Premier Crus undergo partial fermentation in wood, and all vinification is carried out using indigenous yeasts. The entire production is of impeccable quality, especially the entry-level wines. Certified organic since 2014, this estate has produced some superb wines, always very ripe, but not always fresh: with regret, we withdraw the star, hoping for a return to better balance soon.
