Domaine René Bouvier
Domaine René Bouvier has been a family estate for three generations, and is now run by Bernard Bouvier. Founded in 1910 by grandfather Henri Bouvier, Domaine René Bouvier now boasts 17 hectares of vines spread over six villages, from Gevrey-Chambertin in the south to Dijon in the north. The 18 appellations of Domaine René Bouvier cover the broad spectrum of Burgundy, Côte de Nuits Villages, Gevrey-Chambertin, Fixin, Marsannay, Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru and Grand Cru.

The Domaine René Bouvier vineyard has been organically farmed since 2013: tillage, disbudding, green harvesting, manual harvesting and sorting are all part of the estate's daily routine. In 2006, Domaine René Bouvier acquired new, functional and modern buildings, designed with hygiene and harmony in mind. The care taken in vinification and ageing places Domaine René Bouvier wines among Burgundy's finest. They can be found in some of the finest Michelin-starred establishments in France, and on the finest tables of restaurants abroad.

René Bouvier - Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Sentiers 2017

pinot noir
delicious
great wine

"In a firmer style than les-fuées, Les Sentiers are structured around a present, dynamic tannin." (Le Guide des Vins Bettane & Desseauve) At the foot of the Bonnes-Mares, "Les Sentiers" inherits the racy vigor associated with a satiny texture that takes its time to reveal itself. A premier cru that likes to age harmoniously, with its strong tannins that evolve gracefully and its alert vivacity. A synthesis of strength and delicacy.

"The wine had finished malolactic fermentation very early, and is beginning to complexify its aromatic palette. Superb, ready to drink, it will keep. But why bother, the gourmet nuances of a Gevrey a few years old are already there." (Le Guide des Vins Bettane & Desseauve) A very fine bottle to be enjoyed now or left to age.

charmer

"A grouping of different parcels to give an image of the entire Marsannay finage. Red fruit highlighted, charming and crisp fruit." (Le Guide des Vins Bettane & Desseauve). Finage, a medieval term indicating the limits of a village territory, is a blend of seven lieux-dits where all the qualities of each parcel are balanced in a wine revealing the best of the appellation's terroir. A fine ambassador for the Marsannay appellation!

chardonnay

Planted in the commune of Marsannay, in the lieu-dit En Ouzeloy, Chardonnay here expresses its aromas of white flowers and fern. On the palate, there's both tension and flesh in an assertive texture, reflecting 18 months' ageing in vats and barrels. A fine introduction to the subject!

René Bouvier - Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes 2017

15,5/20 Bettane & Desseauve

" Already sensual, it should be drunk soon enough to enjoy its innate charm." (Le Guide des Vins Bettane & Desseauve) From old vines over 60 years old, this cuvée is aged 18 months in barrel. It offers aromas of tart red berries. The palate is voluminous and flavorful, with well-marked tannins and a structured, slightly spicy finish.

"Powdery, plump juice in the Fixin, a chubby baby whose tender fruit is already happily giving itself away." (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2020 - RVF) This top-quality Fixin reveals itself to be fine and delicate on the nose. On the palate, the attack is tender, with lovely, pleasant fruit and a lively structure due to a fine mineral presence. The pretty vivacity and good persistence are accompanied by notes of red fruit in retro-olfaction. Just delicious!

The color of this red wine is a beautiful ruby, with an intensity that remains sustained over time. The palate is racy, full-bodied and fleshy, with excellent balance. The beautiful ripeness of the grapes is reflected in the range of ripe fruits (black fruits, blueberries), which combine with spicy notes (white pepper). The long finish is quite fresh. An explosion of flavors in the glass!

"The 2016 Vosne-Romanée Village has a delicious, perfumed bouquet, the 25% new barrel perfectly integrated and letting the aromas of crushed strawberry and violet blossom. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, a drop of acidity, nicely proportioned in the mouth with a suprisingly mineral-rich finish. A vintage to watch, better than the 2015. " (Wine Advocate 2017 - Robert Parker)

René Bouvier - Clos de Vougeot 2013

15,5/20 RVF

(2012 vintage notes)

The old vines of Pinot Noir give, on the terroir of Clos Vougeot, an elegant and racy wine. With time, it takes on the velvet touch of Vosne-Romanée wines and the finesse of the Chambolle-Musigny wines. The finish of liquorice and white pepper signs the greatness of this historical climat.
