"A very impressive example of Grenouilles with a bright future ahead, according to the renowned magazine Decanter: an exceptional Chablis Grand Cru!"

"The palate is very concentrated, but also very elegant. Stone fruit characteristics combined with citrus acidity and some vigorous mineral notes on the finish add to the freshness. A very impressive example of Grenouilles with a great future ahead of it. Buy a case and keep it for at least five years. 2025-2034" (Decanter 2023)

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2020 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

The leading producer of Chablis continues to deliver a faithful interpretation of the appellation, thanks to the precise and meticulous work of oenologist Vincent Bartement. As always, the wines are presented with a one-year delay, this year being 2016, a complicated vintage but one in which the Mont-de-Milieu fared very well. Other terroirs that usually perform well for the winery are tasting a little less good, so let's wait for the 2017s!

About the estate:

A cooperative winery founded in 1923, bringing together nearly 300 winegrowers and representing a quarter of the Chablis vineyards, La Chablisienne celebrated its ninetieth anniversary in 2013. It is a modern, high-performance structure that contributes greatly to the reputation of the appellation. The Grenouilles grand cru is one of its flagship wines.

Rated estate (2020 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)

About the estate:

The largest producer of Chablis is one of the best cooperatives in France, as skilled in business as it is in winemaking. Among the many vintages produced, it is important to know how to sort them, but all the wines today benefit from perfect technical mastery in pressing and aging on lees. The great specialties are the Chablis Vieilles Vignes, which is very consistent, and the premier crus in heavy bottles, which rival the best productions of private cellars, not to mention the famous grand cru Château Grenouilles, which should not be drunk too young! The entry-level wines have improved considerably and have lost the reduction notes that characterized them. La Chablisienne is in great shape!

Wine rated (2024 guide) 93/100

About wine:

Complex notes of dried lemon, waxed apple, fennel, wet stones, and seashells linger on the palate, which is medium-bodied, mineral, and flavorful. Lots of texture and concentration. Drink now or hold.
