Notes : RVF 17/20, The Burghound 91/100
Château de la Tour is the most important estate in Clos-Vougeot. Its Grand Cru, produced on the 6 hectares in a single block around the château, comes from old vines that are now 45 years old, and in 2006 delivers an elegant, racy wine of remarkable aromatic purity, with notes of black fruit and finely balanced oak. A Très Grand de Bourgogne!

Gault & Millau Wine Guide

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau

Domain rated (2012 guide) 6*Stars (Outstanding production)

About the domain :

"Château de la Tour is the only estate to produce wine in the Clos, and the largest owner, with 6 hectares in the upper part of the estate. The château was built in 1890 by the family's ancestors. The current owners are two sisters, Jacqueline Labet and Nicole Delechette, and the estate has been managed since 1986 by Jacqueline's son François. In the '70s and early '80s, wine was of little interest. It took the young François Labet to call on Guy Accad to produce remarkable wines, as in 1987. With Guy Accad gone, the estate continued to progress, with the help of Jean-Pierre Confuron.

Domaine rated (2011 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the domain :

"This château is the only one in the Clos de Vougeot, of which he is also the principal owner. The estate began bottling in the 1930s. Having fallen to a low ebb in quality in the 1970s and early 1980s, it rose sharply in quality when the young François Labet called on Guy Accad. Elaborated with the help of Sylvain Pataille from the 2009 vintage, the wine is now at its highest level. The vinification of whole grapes and ageing in partially new barrels produce a wine of the highest quality, on a par with the very best.
