"A very great Burgundy

"The 2020 Corton Grand Cru Le Rognet et Corton went down very well, relaxing in the glass with aromas of dark berries, spice, bitter chocolate, loamy earth and vine smoke. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with lively acids, fine, chalky tannins and a long, penetrating finish, this is one of the best Buisson Brothers reds I've tasted." Tasting & pairing

Eye

Beautiful dark red colour

Nose

When young, Rognet-et-Corton exhales notes of spicy fruit, blackcurrant and kirsch. As it ages, it develops aromas of undergrowth, truffles and leather.

Mouth

A wine that offers real presence and intensity, while retaining its finesse and elegance. It's what you'd expect from the excellence of a red Burgundy Grand Cru: the epitome of seductive Pinot Noir. This great charmer likes to be left to its own devices, and is ideally served with a glass of wine.

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (guide 2023) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the domain :

Frédérick and Franck Buisson, whose family presence in the village dates back to the 12th century, represent the eighth generation of winemakers at this historic Saint-Romain estate. Ecocert-certified since 2012, they develop the most natural viticulture and oenology. The red wines, which still contain some whole bunches, offer a precise vision of their terroir that argues for the rediscovery of a Saint-Romain we haven't often seen at this level. The precise whites are not to be outdone.

Rated (guide 2023) 17.5/20 (Grand vin)

Domaine rated (guide 2023) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

Very expressive, with scents of red berries and sweet spices, it offers a lovely contrast between a silky attack and a densely woven mid-palate. Powerful yet fine, ripe tannins carry it through. An intense grand cru with depth, built for long ageing.

About the domain :

Frédéric, winemaker, and Franck, salesman, manage one of the largest estates in the southern Côte de Beaune. Certified organic since 2009, they will be switching to biodynamic viticulture in 2018. For ten years, they had already been following the lunar calendar for their bottling. Serious work in the vineyard and cellar enables them to produce deep, racy wines that age well. This is an estate that perfectly showcases the Saint-Romain appellation in both red and white wines, which are fine, precise and elegant. A range of wines that richly deserve their first star.
