"The 2013 cuvée Soufflot, made from pinot noir alone, is the same barrel as the 2012 version, earning Stéphanie Colinot a second Favorite in two years. A consecration for the young winemaker, who has practiced a perfectly controlled eighteen-month barrel ageing process. The wine's velvety color is immediately seductive. Spices spice up a racy nose with hints of violets and red fruit. The palate is equally complex, with a frank attack, rich, dense, powerful and fine at the same time. Be patient a little longer with this bottle, which combines elegance and character, built for ageing". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2017)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (guide 2017) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)

About the domain :

It's been 15 years now since Stéphanie Colinot took over the family domaine, one of the most prominent in the Irancy cru. The range is broad, offering different interpretations of Burgundy's most northerly red terroir.

About the domain :

Since 2001, Stéphanie Colinot - a descendant of the famous architect Soufflot (creator of the Panthéon in Paris) - has been vinifying Irancy's best-known lieux-dits (Palotte, Les Mazelots, Côte du Moutier, Les Cailles, Boudardes...), expressing the different terroirs of her 13 ha vineyard. A sure bet for the appellation.

Rated (2016 guide) 15.5/20 (Good wine)

Estate rated (2017 guide) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with good production levels, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

We change aromas with the new cuvée Soufflot, which requires more aeration. Its wild notes, its tannic flesh accentuated by a raised breeding will require 4 to 5 years in the cellar.

About the domain :

Following in her noble father's footsteps, the brilliant and dynamic Stéphanie Colinot vinifies pinot noir like no one else in the Yonne, giving it inimitable color and fruit intensity, as well as great ageing potential. Les Mazelots - a blend of pinot noir and césar, in particular - produces a fuller-bodied wine. Côte du Moutier is the most aromatic, while Palotte is the most supple and fruity. The overall quality/price ratio, as well as the welcome at the domaine, are to be commended. The estate is closer to the second than to the first star.
