"Favorite for this Champagne with its luscious body, underlined by invigorating freshness: the Cuvée Brut Grand Millésime 2012 from Gosset. The high concentration of this 2012 vintage suits Gosset's distinctive style (67% Chardonnay). It gives it a flavorful body underscored by invigorating freshness, with plenty of persistence. Ready for cellaring. (Le Revue RVF N°646)

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2021 guide) 17.5/20 (Reference wine)
Domaine rated (guide 2025) 5*Stars (Exceptional producers, those who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and the world)
About the wine:
A beautiful gold where the great Chardonnays in the majority blend perfectly with the equally great Pinot Noir. Unctuous aromas of dried flowers and yellow to white stone fruit cooked into fine marmalade. The ripeness of the peanuts and caramelized butter effects is perfect, balancing perfectly with the fresh, peppery, minty axis. Very silky on the palate, with a fine ribbing on great bitters. The butter-cooked mushroom register is tasty, and the finish carries off the sapid flavors remarkably well. A great wine.
About the domain :
Gosset remains a small house in the world of Champagne giants, with an average of one million bottles sold each year. At the head of the technical team is a dynamic duo, Odilon de Varine and Gabrielle Malagu, for a range that remains true to its fundamentals: freshness, liveliness and minerality. To stay the course, despite recent climate changes and higher grape ripeness, the house now favors Chardonnay in its blends, with a smaller share of Pinot Noir to keep the final taste consistent. With its homogeneity and assertive style, the range, which offers numerous cuvées, including some from long-aged wines, deserved to be rewarded with an extra star. The house is back at the top of our hierarchy.

About the wine:
The 2012 vintage has the reputation of being excellent, but rather sparse in volume. Yet this Grand Millésime is anything but confidential. It blends a majority of Chardonnay (67%) from the Côte des Blancs and renowned Montagne de Reims terroirs, with Pinot Noir from the Grands Crus. After resting for 5 years, it enchants with its subtle, mineral and fresh nose of white fruits, butter and pastries, followed by a fine, complex and lively palate, with a tangy apricot finish and a noble bitterness.
About the domain :
The "oldest house in Champagne" was founded in 1584 by Pierre Gosset, an alderman and vineyard owner from Aÿ, before the region's wine began to take off. At the time, the town's wines, often red, rivaled those of Beaune at court. After Pierre Gosset, 13 generations followed. Now based in Épernay, the company has been part of the Renaud-Cointreau group since 1993. Gosset champagnes do not undergo malolactic fermentation. In 2016, assistant manager and oenologist Odilon de Varine took over from Jean-Pierre Mareigner. He was joined the following year by Gabrielle Malagu, to whom he entrusted joint responsibility for the winery at the end of 2022.

Domaine rated (guide 2025) 2*Stars (These great estates, often endowed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the wine:
A beautiful palette, the nose is very ripe, with a core of Pinot character. Ripe yet fresh aromas. The juice is racy and full-bodied. Lively, with a spirited bubble. A great wine that's still young.
About the domain :
Champagne's oldest wine house, founded in 1584, has been owned by the Renaud-Cointreau group since 1994. Now under the leadership of Odilon de Varine and Gabrielle Bouby-Malagu in the cellar, it stands out for the regular production of intense, powerful wines with a fine tension that balances them and enables them to age harmoniously.
James Suckling
Wine rated (2019 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
This wine offers spicy berry and cookie aromas and a hint of toasted hazelnut and brioche. Black fruit tart. The palate is suave, slender and unctuous. Finely chiseled, with a dry finish.

One of my favorite champagnes. Perfect bubbles. Potential to evolve for some time to come.

disappointing. there's an imbalance on the palate (too astringent) that detracts from the pleasure. the only positive point is that the bouquet is a little superior to the basic champagnes, but in this house it's better to drink the "basic" brut, which can be bought on this site, much more pleasant and of high quality.
