"A timeless signature of the House, a model of balance and great precision.

"Palmer takes the cake again! Every element is in its right place, to the millimeter. First of all, there's the lacy nose combining mirabelle plum, lime blossom and lychee. A perfume of rare preciousness! Then comes the tangy palate, evoking orange, pear, toast, hazelnut and currant, before a masterful conclusion with a slightly licorice bitterness. It's amazing to be able to achieve such great length, without ever falling into heaviness and, on the contrary, retaining a great deal of elegance". (Terre de Vins)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

4-star rated estates (top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)

About the domain :

This beautiful cellar with its ultra-modern facilities just outside Reims operates with the rigor and seriousness of a house, which is reflected in the care given to the range. Supplies are sourced from the northern sectors of the Montagne de Reims, which is reflected in the straightforwardness of the cuvées, from the successful blanc de blancs to the Solera rosé, made from an original solera of red wine, giving it an inimitable cachet. The vintages age here to perfection, and are brought back to market after a few more years in the cellar.

About the wine:

A typical Montagne de Reims cuvée, but also, interestingly, one that includes a small majority of Chardonnay in the blend. Over 35% reserve wines, combined with four years' ageing, ensure that this cuvée is truly impressive. The presence of yeast and mid-palate volume cannot conceal an almost floral elegance, with subtle notes of hazelnut and brioche rounding out the ensemble.

About the domain :

Champagne Palmer & Co is an offshoot of the Société Coopérative des Grands Crus de la Champagne, based in Avize since 1947. The Palmer & Co brand was created the following year, in 1948. The founders were seven winegrowers with vineyards in the premier and grand crus of the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims. The cooperative moved to Reims in 1959, and began to open up to other vineyards such as Sézannais and the Riceys region. By the 1980s, the symbolic milestone of one million bottles of champagne had been reached.

Rated wine (guide 2023) 90/100

About the wine:

NV Brut Réserve is a blend of 57% Chardonnay, 24% Pinot Meunier and 19% Pinot Noir, based on the 2016 vintage with 34% reserve wines. Sweet notes of cornmeal and corn leaves give a restrained nose. The body is bright, lively and fresh. This wine is not complex, but it's not simple either. An image of sobriety with a lively, creamy finish. Dosage is 6.9gr/L. Disgorged: January 2022.

About the wine:

Interesting nose of caramelized pear, mirabelle plum tart and coffee beans, followed by an abundance of red fruits that accentuate the whole in a rather rich and creamy mouth. Long, very harmonious finish. Drink now.
