Cariñena is a Denominación de Origen (DO) produced in the province of Zaragoza. It is the oldest denomination in the Autonomous Community of Aragon, and one of the oldest in Spain. Located 50 kilometers from Zaragoza, south of the Ebro river, in the Campo de Cariñena comarca, bordered to the south by the Sierra Virgen mountain range and to the west by the Calatayud DO wine region.
