Bodegas Viña Magaña
Bodega Vina Magana is an emblematic Navarrese estate, established in 1961 and located in the southernmost tip of the region, and a major contributor to the DO Navarra. The Magana brothers revolutionized this denomination by betting on the introduction of French grape varieties, at the time unauthorized, and the cultivation of old Merlot vines, among the oldest in Spain, alongside Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon. The extreme care taken in the cultivation and vinification of Bodega Vina Magana's vintages, thanks to family know-how, has helped propel the bodega's DO Navarra wines to international prominence, bringing with it a strong appreciation of the whole denomination outside Spanish borders.

Bodega Vina Magana's vineyards cover over 100 hectares of poor, arid, mineral-rich soil. The spirit of Bodega Vina Magana 's cuvées is similar to that of the great Médoc wines, with a typical Navarrese terroir. The great Vina Magana wines are a must-discover...

"Viva Espana!"

"The 2018 Barón de Magaña is a red blend made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah from their oldest vines, seeking a fresher wine that expresses the limestone soils of their vineyards. [...] It has a brilliant ruby color and an expressive nose of berries and herbs, very spicy, with a medium-bodied palate and refined tannins." (Wine Advocate 2021)

90/100 Robert Parker

"A sensational achievement from this producer, Dignus 2013 is a blend of 50% Tempranillo complemented in equal parts by Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard is at altitude on limestone soil, and the wine is aged for 12 months in 3-wine French oak barrels. The result is close to the Bordeaux style, with notes of licorice, cedar, tobacco leaf and red and black fruit. Dark ruby to violet in color, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with notes of undergrowth, spices and cedar. Drink over the next 3-4 years. (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Bodegas Vina Magana - Calchetas 2007

Rating: Robert Parker 93+/100
"The 2007 Calchetas is a blend of 50% Merlot, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Syrah. Saturated purple in color, it exudes a superb bouquet of smoky wood, pencil lead, mineral, incense, blueberry and blackberry. On the palate, the wine is buoyed by acidity and has the structure and balance to evolve for another 6-8 years". (Robert Parker - April 2010)
