Campo Arriba 2014 comes from one of the highest plots in Yecla. It is a blend of Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Grenache, aged for three months in French oak barrels. Founded in 1925 by the Candela family, this bodega has truly reached new heights with this excellent value for money wine. Blackberries, blueberries, acacia flowers and chalky minerality dominate the bouquet. A full-bodied wine at a ridiculously low price for this quality, we assume it will age for 5-6 years, although its true value lies in its exuberance, purity of fruit and density." Good quality wine. Aroma of black fruit with a finish of vanilla notes. Don't hesitate to decant it a good two hours beforehand to avoid being overwhelmed by its power. Can still be aged.

Wood, vanilla, caramel, and strawberry candy. A caricature of Spanish wine. What a joke.

A harsh wine that is not at all pleasant. Parker's rating is completely inappropriate.

Disappointing, this heavy, powerful wine whose alcohol quickly goes to your head. Lacks finesse. Surprising to see such a high Parker rating.

Review and opinion by Mr. ADRIEN B. Published on 06/20/2016
Attractive ruby color. Aroma of sour cherries and ripe fruit—reminded me of its Italian cousin, Amarone. Spanish wine from the Yecla region, made from Monastrell, Syrah, and Tintorera grapes. Still a little tannic on the palate, it's not bad now and will be even better in a couple of years. Well-balanced, smooth finish. Good value for money.
