Yecla
Yecla Yecla is a Denomination of Origin (DO) since 1975, covering an area around the town of the same name. Located in the north of the Murcia region, the Yecla appellation is sandwiched between those of Almansa, Alicante and Jumilla. Vineyard production in this region dates back to ancient times.

Winegrowing benefits from the geography of the area, between the Mediterranean and the La Mancha plateau. The soil of theYecla appellation is sandy, low in organic matter, deep and permeable. The climate is Mediterranean-continental, with long, hot, dry summers and mild winters, ideal for ripening vines.

The main grape variety used for Yecla red wines is Monastrell, complemented by a wide range of other varieties: Grenache, Tempranillo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. They produce full-bodied, supple and well-balanced wines. Yecla white wines offer fruity nuances in their Airen, Merseguera, Macabeo and Malvasa varieties. The Castaño, Candela e Hijos, Lázaro del Corse and Señorio de Barahonda bodegas offer fine, typical examples of the Yecla wines.

93/100 Robert Parker

"Campo Arriba 2014 comes from one of Yecla's highest plots. It's a blend of Mourvèdre, Syrah and Grenache, aged for 3 months in French oak barrels. Founded in 1925 by the Candela family, this bodega has truly reached new heights with this excellent value for money. Blackberries, blueberries, acacia flowers and chalky minerality dominate the bouquet. A full-bodied wine at a ridiculously low price for this quality, we suppose it could age for 5-6 years, even its true value lies in its exuberance, purity of fruit and density." Structurally sound and luscious on the palate, it's a lovely gift cut for pleasure that will give complete satisfaction over the next 5-6 years. It's extraordinary value for money ".
