"100/100 Parker & Wine Enthusiast !"

"Here it is: the magic of Il Marroneto. For my palate, Alessandro Mori's 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Madonna delle Grazie best captures the soaring spirit and ambition of Brunello, crafted in its purest, most naked form. This vintage is a twin brother to the 2010, to which I gave a perfect score* [...] Having now tasted the 2010 vintage several times, I know better what to expect from the short-term evolution of the 2016. I know that the sharp purity of the fruit will soften and give way to more nuanced and refined tones of undergrowth, lilac, iron ore and candied orange peel over the next five years. This wine unfolds to show profound complexity from the start, with bright, jovial red fruit at its core. It vibrates with electric energy and charm." (Wine Advocate 2020) *(ed. note: 100)

About the wine:

Here it is: the magic of Il Marroneto. For my palate, Alessandro Mori's 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Madonna delle Grazie best captures the soaring spirit and ambition of Brunello, crafted in its purest, most naked form. This vintage is a twin brother to the 2010, to which I gave a perfect score. Whereas that wine surprised me, appearing with such unexpected brightness and brilliance, this one won me over in a more cautious, less emotional and more contemplative way. Having now tasted the 2010 vintage several times, I know better what to expect from the short-term evolution of the 2016. I know that the sharp purity of fruit will soften to give way to more nuanced and refined tones of undergrowth, lilac, iron ore and candied orange peel over the next five years. This wine unfolds to show profound complexity from the start, with bright, jovial red fruit at its core. It vibrates with electric energy and charm.

About the wine:

This stunning wine is for Sangiovese purists and lovers of extreme finesse. It opens with tantalizing aromas of rose, violet, berries, ploughed earth and new leather, young and intense but already a classic. Concentrated, structured and radiant, the chiseled palate offers aromas of cherry, raspberry, licorice and crushed mint before a tobacco finish. Taut, refined tannins and bright acidity keep it perfectly balanced. Drink between 2026 and 2046.
