"A great Tuscan 100% Sangiovese, acclaimed by the press and customers alike!"

"Impressive from the first approach to the glass, the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino stands out with a bewitching explosion of exotic spices and crushed ashy stone, giving way to dried black cherries and roasted herbs. This wine combines the energy of the vintage with the balsamic-tinged dark fruits of Montalcino's southern reaches, while zesty acidity maintains balance throughout and flinty minerals arrive towards the end of the tasting. The finish is long, savory and structured, but the tannins are rounder than expected, giving an impression of classicism, but also leaving a sense of appetite that keeps the taster coming back to the glass for more. Easily one of the best wines of the vintage, the 2018 is not to be missed." (Vinous 2022)

About the wine:

This large, historic estate in southwestern Montalcino draws on 140 hectares of vineyards to produce a very complete and satisfying Brunello. A smoky note leads to nuances of leather and tobacco that are repeated on the palate. The 2018 is full-flavored, with notes of cherry and baking spices. It seems of medium volume, but it's well fleshed out, with a vigorous chewiness that contributes positively to the pleasant mouthfeel. It will be even better with another year in bottle.

About the wine:

The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Il Poggione reveals a deep, savory character, with more fruit and concentration than most of its peers. This wine has a dense core, garnished with black cherry, blackberry, roasted spice, mahogany-smoked meat and plowed earth. Despite its robust aromas, this Sangiovese is actually quite refined and polished in texture. The tannins are supple and approachable. This is an ambitious production of 200,000 bottles. The estate's Riserva Vigna Paganelli was not produced in 2018, so that wine's fruit was used here.

About the wine:

This is a savory, layered Brunello with aromas of fresh sour cherries, plums, bay leaves, rosemary and olives. Cloves and licorice are also present. Medium- to full-bodied, with firm, fine tannins. Elegant and well-balanced, with a long, deliciously savory finish. Drink from 2023.

A pleasure! The wine may seem heavy at first, but it's greedy while retaining great finesse. Very pleasant, albeit a little expensive.
