"The 2013 Calderara Sottana presents a different personality from the estate's other cuvées. It offers a more balsamic style with wild fennel, rosemary, black fruits and scorched earth. On the palate, it's the most ethereal and hardest to pin down, as the aromas are constantly evolving. Attractive fruit notes complete the framework. Despite the sublime complexity on the nose, the wine is more immediate and direct on the palate. Lively berry fruit is followed by smoky tannins. This vintage should age very well." About the wine:
Calderara Sottana 2013 has a different personality from the estate's other cuvées. It offers a more balsamic style, with wild fennel, rosemary, black fruits and burnt earth. On the palate, it's the most ethereal, and the hardest to pin down as the aromas are constantly evolving. Attractive fruit notes complete the framework. Despite the sublime complexity on the nose, the wine is more immediate and direct on the palate. Lively berry fruit is followed by smoky tannins. This vintage seems less complex overall, but should age very well.

About the wine:
More intense in tone than Santo Spirito, with a more powerful nose. Juicy, sweet and red-fruited on the palate, with enveloping tannins. It will improve with age. Burgundian interpretation of Nerello Mascalese.
