The indigenous grape varieties grown in Etna Rosso are mainly Nero Mascalese and Nero Cappuccio. Etna Bianco, on the other hand, is made from Carricante (at least 60% of the blend), but also Catarratto, Trebbiano, and Minnella.
The typical aromas of the reds are generally associated with tart red fruits, violets, some smoky or earthy notes, and a few flavors from the oak.Etna whites feature flavors of citrus, white-fleshed fruits, and green fruits with mineral and smoky nuances.
