Robert Parker

"The 2018 Corbières A Tire d'Aile Syrah-Grenache blend seems to favor the Syrah side, with peppery aromas with notes of blueberry, garrigue and crushed stone. From the same vineyard as the Minervois, it seems more complex but in the same style; medium-bodied, supple, ready to drink over the next few years. Like its companion, it 's a sure bet " (Wine Advocate 2020 - Joe Czerwinski).

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (2020 guide) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)

About the domain :

Laurent Delaunay has set up his winery in Marseillette, a small wine-producing village not far from Carcassonne, and oenologist Vincent Charleux is in charge. These two Languedoc terroir enthusiasts combine their talents to make the best possible selection of parcels, vinification, blending and ageing. Laurent Delaunay, with his wife Catherine, an oenologist like himself, had already created les-jamelles, a range of remarkable varietal wines, in 1991. At the end of 2015, they bought Domaine La Métairie d'Alon, in Limoux, with the aim of producing exceptional Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays on the beautiful high-altitude Magrie terroir. The 25 hectares are farmed organically and biodynamically, and are divided into 25 parcels, allowing for plot-by-plot selections and hand-crafted cuvées. From the third vintage onwards, success has been evident. The solar Pinot Noir cuvée, produced on a north-facing clay parcel, is breathtaking. This estate richly deserves a second star!

About the domain :

Coming from a family of Burgundy producers and merchants, oenologist Laurent Delaunay, after creating Badet Clément & Cie, bought out the business founded in 1996 by Australian oenologist Nerida Abbott in 2005, creating under the name Abbotts & Delaunay a wine merchant company specializing in Languedoc-Roussillon wines. In 2015, Laurent Delaunay bought Domaine de la Métairie d'Alon and its 25 ha of organic vineyards from well-known Limoux winemaker Jean-Louis Denois.
