Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2019 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)
Domain rated (guide 2021) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the wine:
A warm vintage that gave the wines ripe notes. Very fine tannins.
About the domain :
Diane and her sister Constance are the third generation of women to dynamically manage the 50 hectares or so of l'Engarran, scattered around a beautiful folly built in the 18th century. Diane, in charge of vinification, is constantly striving for greater precision. We can only admire the energy and healthy ambition that drive the two sisters. The style highlights the great ripeness of the grapes, making the wines opulent. We note a progression in the quality of the tannins, which are much finer and rounder. More freshness in the wines will further enhance their drinkability. The cuvée with the château's name is our favorite, so don't miss it.
Guide Hachette des vins
Wine rated (2018 guide) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
Domain rated (guide 2022) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the wine:
An intense nose of morello cherry and spices is matched by a full-bodied, caressing palate with long-lasting black fruit and licorice.
About the domain :
Ch. de l'Engarran is an 18th-century Montpellier "folie", listed on the Inventaire national des Monuments historiques. Three generations of women have made this 55-hectare estate one of the finest addresses in the Grés of Montpellier and Saint-Georges-d'Orques.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Rated (2017 guide) 90/100 (Outstanding wine)
Domain Rated (2019 guide) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
Languedoc St Georges d'Orques Cuvée Quetton 2013 is a blend of 71% Syrah, 20% Grenache and the rest in Carignan, Mourvèdre and Cinsault. It spends 22 months in French oak barrels. Plenty of grosille, plum, pepper and wild herbs give way to a medium-bodied, ripe, supple and round palate. It's drinking well now, and I don't see any need to cellar it, but it'll certainly be good until 2021.
