"The 18 months in barrel leave their mark on this almost pure Syrah, with a toasty, vanilla nose and a background of black fruits. Present on the palate but not overdone, the ageing has nicely coated the fine, firm tannins that support the ample, greedy flesh and remarkable freshness. This red has plenty of depth and potential, and will be forgotten for a few years in the cellar". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2021)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (guide 2021) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))

About the domain :

This property made Faugères great in the 1990s, before being taken over by Julien Seydoux, who came here with the modesty to learn about the terroir and the desire to bring Estanilles back to the forefront. The winemaking techniques are gradually adapting to the grapes and there's still room for improvement. The reds are powerful and full-flavored, with a strong personality.

Domaine noté (guide 2021) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the wine:

The 18 months in barrel leave their mark on this almost pure Syrah, with a toasty, vanilla nose and a background of black fruits. Present on the palate but not overdone, the ageing has nicely coated the fine, firm tannins that support the ample, greedy flesh and remarkable freshness. This red wine has plenty of depth and a promising future, and will be forgotten for a few years in the cellar.

About the domain :

In 2009, the self-taught Julien Seydoux bought this 44-hectare estate, which is run organically and produces faugères that are often remarkable. A sure bet.
