Côtes du Brian
IGP Côtes du Brian is a Minervois appellation located in the highlands of the Siran commune, in the "cru La Livinière" appellation area, in the extreme north-west of the Hérault department.

The climate is Mediterranean, with low rainfall and mild temperatures, at an altitude of between 250 and 350 m. The prevailing wind is a dry north-westerly from the Montagne Noire.

Les Vins de Pays des Côtes du Brian benefit from a terroir with clay-limestone and sandstone soils/ The vineyard is made up of small, terraced, sloping plots, facing south and southwest, and bordering the causse, isolated in a garrigue environment.

A blend of Carignan, Grenache and Syrah planted on the Petit Causse terroir, Bergerie is a fresh, supple red with lots of fruit and hints of Morello cherry. It is only produced in very good years (last vintage: 2010) . An excellent value for money in organic terms!

17/20 Jancis Robinson

Slightly peppery on the nose, Calmel & Joseph's Vieux Carignan is supple on the palate. With notes of ripe black fruit and garrigue, typical of the grape variety, it asserts itself with greediness. Made from century-old Carignan vines, it's an excellent value for money.

With its garnet-red hue, this relaxed wine, dominated by Carignan and Grenache, opens with a fairly complex nose, revealing aromas of fruit paste, with a mineral note and crisp tannins on the palate. Very fine work at a very attractive price.
