Gard
The Gard PGI terroir currently covers 24 communes and extends over 25,000 hectares of hills and plateaus at altitudes of between 20 and 100 meters, of which only half is planted. The Mediterranean climate with maritime influences is characterized by 3 components: sunshine with over 250 days of sunshine a year, rainfall concentrated over a small number of days and the Mistral wind, which blows and cleanses the vineyards. Thanks to the water table, the vines avoid summer drought. These factors produce grapes with great potential and high sugar content.
The grape varieties used for the reds and rosés of the Gard PGI wines are Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Cinsault. For whites, the main grape varieties are Grenache blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Maccabeu and Rolle. Château Mourgues du Grès, Mas Montel and Domaine Roc d'Anglade offer products that allow you to fully appreciate the qualities of the Gard PGI appellation.
