"A delicious white

Limpid, brilliant with green highlights, Cuvée Sainte Agnès seduces right from the glass. The nose is expressive and complex, with hints of citrus, white-fleshed fruit and dried fruit. The attack on the palate is full-bodied, precise and rich, with perfect balance. The aromas emanate from the glass, and the finish is full and fresh. ample and fresh.

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domain rated (guide 2024) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)

About the domain :

Three Ravaille brothers, Jean-Marc, Pierre and Xavier, as comfortable in Pic Saint-Loup as the three fish on the labels would be in the water. For the reds, sainte-agnès blends the four main Languedoc grape varieties, while the whites are half Roussanne. The move towards biodynamic viticulture has been underway for several years. Sainte-agnès is regularly positioned as the archetypal Pic Saint-Loup red. The 2020s will nevertheless require patience.

Rated wine (guide 2021) 89/100 (Vintage 2019)

Domaine rated (2025 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the domain :

L'Héritage du Pic-Saint-Loup is a historic terroir, located on the lands of the former convent of Château de Montferrand. It was in the 12th century that the first winegrowers tilled and cultivated these pampre fields. Today, this jewel of the appellation, which backs directly onto the Pic, is farmed by the Ravaille family, who were instrumental in introducing Syrah, now the dominant grape variety in the appellation. In 1992, the latest generation, Xavier, Pierre and Jean-Marc, decided to leave the cooperative to vinify these beautiful high-altitude soils. Demanding standards in the vineyard, precise expression and controlled power are the hallmarks of the estate's current production, a benchmark in the appellation.

After Grande Cuvée de l'Hortus and Manon du Clos Marie, could this be a new Grand Blanc du Pic? I doubt it, even if some people are whispering about it behind the scenes. In the meantime, it's true that Sainte-Agnès is atypical in terms of its dark yellow color and its blend. On the palate, the ample mineral freshness contrasts with the roundness of yellow fruit, fennel notes and a delicate woodiness. Short finish of lemon zest and bitter nuances. Pair at 10° with the iodized, aniseed flavors of a royal sea bream from Grau-du-Roi with fennel. Score = 3.8 V.
