Robert Parker

"In 2015, this estate freed itself from its apostrophe to simply call itself Baronarques. He presented this cuvée, which the producer considers to be his second wine: the blend does not include Cabernets; aging is shared between vat and barrel. Second wine? For tasters, it stands out from the crowd, like the 2011, which was honored before it. A deep, intense red, this vintage offers a nose centered on red fruits and cherries, enhanced by spices, and proves excellent on the palate, with its elegant attack, ample, structured body and dazzling aromas of jammy red fruits, tinged by the barrel with hints of mocha. Fruit, structure and complexity". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2017)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated (2017 guide) 14.5/20 (Good wine)

Domaine rated (guide 2017) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)

About the wine:

Late vintage, harvesting began on October 11. Slightly closed nose, with notes of peony and rose. Dense on the palate, with rather strict tannins to date, but with serious potential.

About the domain :

Philippine de Rothschild, owner of Château Mouton-Rothschild in Pauillac, created this estate in Limoux, bringing with her a mastery of Bordeaux viticulture and vinification. Constantly evolving, thanks to a mastery of the terroir and the increasing age of the vineyards, the style and quality of the wines evolve over the years. The blend varies according to the vintage, with a proportion of Atlantic grape varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon) and Mediterranean grape varieties (Syrah, Malbec, Grenache). The Chardonnays, grafted a few years ago, are used to produce one of the appellation's finest whites.

About the wine:

In 2015, this estate freed itself from its apostrophe to simply call itself Baronarques. He presented this cuvée, which the producer considers to be his second wine: the blend does not include Cabernet (for this 2013, 58% Merlot, with Syrah and Malbec in addition); aging is shared between tank and barrel. Second wine? For tasters, it stands out from the crowd, like the 2011, distinguished before it. About the domain :

Formerly owned by the Abbey of Saint-Polycarpe in the 17th century, this 43-hectare estate was acquired in 1998 by Baroness Philippine de Rothschild (Château Mouton-Rothschild in Pauillac) and her two sons, who have completely renovated the vineyard and winery, making it one of the appellation's best-sellers.
