"Las Flors de la Pèira 2017 will be similar to a blend of 30% Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah, with 5% Carignan and Cinsault. Still in barrel, it's full-bodied but shows nicely delineated notes of spring flowers, mixed red and black fruits and a sprinkling of spice on the long, silky finish." (Wine Advocate 2019 - Joe Czerwinski)

Refined label, elegant color. As for the wine itself? What can I say, patience is not fully rewarded. The attack is frank and heady, with a slight dip in the mid-palate perhaps due to the tannins, which are still tight, even prominent. It's massive, with an austere, slightly drying profile. The finish is spicy and tangy, with hints of plum and blue fruit. Clearly, there's no velvetiness or silkiness on the palate, contrary to the glowing reviews of some experts. One thing's for sure: the prices of La Peira en Damaisela wines are overrated. This cuvée is not for tasting, but rather for typical dishes such as marinated venison steaks, grilled in wine sauce and served with roast potatoes. Score =3.3.

Very fine wines, but it's a pity the prices are soaring. Quality doesn't justify everything
