La Pèira en Damaisèla

Created in 2004, La Pèira en Damaisèla is owned by Karine Ahton and Robert Dougan, and is located in the Sainte-Brigitte area (Jonquières / Saint-André de Sangonis).

The La Pèira en Damaisèla vineyard comprises 11.4 hectares of vines in the parcels and localities of Bois de Pauliau, Belle Fiolle (Bellefeuille) and Les Pointes. The vineyard's soil is predominantly clay with stony deposits and an alluvial subsoil.

La Pèira en Damaisèla wines are of a very high quality level, which the specialized press has not hesitated to describe as equivalent to the 1er crus classés of Bordeaux and the Grands Crus of Burgundy. Each year, La Pèira en Damaisèla produces an average of 300 cases of the grand vin La Pèira, and 500 cases of the second wine, Las Flors de la Pèira.

This blend of Roussane, Marsanne, Clairette and Grenache blanc opens with ripe, white-fleshed fruit and tangerine notes on a saline background. The palate is defined by beautiful tension, white fruit flavors and a long finish. A gourmet bottle!

"Small-scale production

Produced in small quantities, this is a creamy, unctuous white with aromas of ripe apricot, exotic notes and a touch of vanilla. On the palate, the fruit is dense and delicious, with honey and vanilla notes at the center. Tension brings balance and good length to the finish.

2019 is a low-yield year, and the idea was to isolate this parcel of Cinsault, usually present in the Les Obriers blend. 100% Cinsault, a long-forgotten local variety, vinified on its own. The fruit is at the heart of the blend, with its bright, gourmand character tinged with sweet spices. An atypical, distinctive cuvée. Discover it for yourself!

"Released as a Vin de France, Las Flors 2018 is a wine more dominated by Grenache Grenache compared to La Peira, which is richer in Syrah. This deep 2018 with a plum ruby hue plum ruby hue presents a rock star nose of kirsch and black raspberry as well as herbes de Provence Provence herbs, ground pepper, dried flowers and sweet spices. Rich, full-bodied, beautifully textured textured and equally transparent, it has an assertive, concentrated style that's perfect to enjoy over the next 7-8 years." (Jeb Dunnuck 2021) 2018 is probably one of the greatest blends on this vintage!

"Beautiful purplish-purple color. Tasty, vigorous nose. Good staying power with a floral top note. Still in its infancy, but this vintage shows the potential to rival or even surpass 2016 in terms of subtlety and sophistication. We feel a real energy, as well as ripe, deliciously sweet fruit [...]. Already admirably persistent. (Jancis Robinson)

"Las Flors de la Pèira 2017 will be similar to a blend of 30% Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah, with 5% Carignan and Cinsault. Still in barrel, it's full-bodied but shows nicely delineated notes of spring flowers, mixed red and black fruits and a sprinkling of spice on the long, silky finish." "Tasted in bottle, Les Obriers 2015 is probably the best vintage of this cuvée to date (followed very closely by the 2016). Made from 45% Carignan, 30% Cinsault and Syrah to round it out, it offers the classic, characteristic dry earth flavors I always find in this wine, as well as an abundance of sweet fruit, medium to full-bodied richness, silky tannins that carry through to a superb finish." (Wine Advocate 2017 - Jeb Dunnuck) A gem!

"Luteva blanc 2015 displays a blend of Chardonnay and Vermentino. It offers intense Chardonnay notes of apple, citrus, white flower and saline minerality that give way to a medium-bodied, straightforward and elegant style on the palate. No hesitation at this price. "Sourced entirely from Pézenas, Luteva 2013 is crafted by the team at La Pèira and is a blend of Syrah, Grenache and a touch of Carignan. It has plenty of character, with a profile of peppery herbs, garrigue and red and black fruits. It's a well-balanced, fresh wine. It's the ideal weekday companion, to buy by the case and enjoy over the next 2-3 years." (Wine Advocate 2016 - Robert Parker)

"Based on Cinsault, the 2013 Coteaux du Languedoc Terrasses du Larzac Les Obriers (aged half in foudres and half in 600l barrels) is fragrant and complex, with notes of sweet kirsch, exotic pepper, spices and hints of leather. Medium-bodied, elegant, with a seamless profile, this wine should easily become a memorable example of this vintage." (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

"With added elegance, a sense of balance, Las Flors de la Pèira 2012 reveals full-bodied notes of blackberry, pepper, crushed flowers, resinous herbs and licorice." (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker). Las Flors is a full-bodied to medium-bodied red, dynamic on the palate, juicy and remarkably fresh... A great success!
