Mourvèdre and Carignan are complemented by 15% Syrah. Full-bodied and exceptionally well-balanced on the palate, the juice is splendid, saline and generous, but without the excesses of 2020. As is often the case, this is one of the great vintages of the vintage.

About the domain :

Settled in Jonquières, west of Montpellier, Olivier Jullien's intuition and intelligence have enabled him to raise the quality of the region's wines to the highest level, and he has led a whole generation of young winemakers to follow in his footsteps. He set up in 1985, and his estate now comprises 18 hectares of land with a wide variety of soils (clay-limestone, silica, sandstone), cultivated without certification (the estate was certified in the past) in an unclaimed organic farming approach to avoid dogma. Autour-de-Jonquières corresponds to the original terroir of Mas Jullien, on parcels of essentially limestone scree. Carlan comes from schist at an altitude of 200 to 400 meters, and a new cuvée, Lous-Rougeos, comes from high altitude terroirs that were almost abandoned, at the foot of the collapsing Larzac plateau. All the reds are at the very top of the Languedoc and fully evoke its typicity, with notes of sage, garrigue and thyme complemented by constant freshness. They evolve slowly and age admirably. Great whites and rosés too.

More than any other Languedoc winegrower, Olivier Jullien commands the admiration and respect of his peers. The sincerity of this visionary, who shuns competition, shines through in his deep, digestible and generous wines, southern in their intensity and diversity of flavors, rather than simply in the ripeness of the grapes and their illusory richness in alcohol. Fresh, full-bodied reds, meticulously matured to shine over fifteen years of ageing, as well as a magnificent white that stands out from the crowd, make this estate a benchmark.
