Bettane & Desseauve
"Chiselled, with a silky texture, this Chenin has a subtle cutting edge. It's a groundbreaker, very mineral, with fine bitters." (Le Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France 2018) From plots with a layer of fine clay, Chenin - very close to the rock - reveals that rare extra minerality.

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2018 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Domaine rated (2018 guide) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the wine:
Chiselled and delicate, this Chenin has a subtle edge. It's a very mineral, finely bitter blade.
About the domain :
Eddy Oosterlinck-Bracke, with his slender moustache and tenor voice, indulges his passion for great sweet wines with his wife Mileine. A Belgian hardware merchant in his youth, he felt it his duty, he says, to make wine... The call of the vineyard came in 2001, with 8 hectares (out of a potential 22 hectares) in Coteaux-du-Layon-Faye and Anjou, all cultivated under certified biodynamic methods since 2007. Rich and complex, the liquoreux wines are a benchmark for the appellation, with rich barrel ageing to give the wines their body and allow them to stand the test of time. A great place to stop and add to your cellar!

A pleasant surprise, unexpected for a white Anjou. Full-bodied, fat and richly aromatic on the palate. I'll buy it again sometime. Tasted blind with friends, against 6 other whites, it won!
