The cuvée Anjou-Villages takes things up a notch, with aromatic intensity around peony, ripe red and black fruits, and spices. The palate is full-bodied, with a frank attack and good volume. The tannins will soften with decanting. A fine example of the typicity of this appellation at an affordable price!

Guide Hachette des vins
Domaine noté (guide 2025) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the domain :
Managed by the younger generation, Stéphane, Julien and Vincent Denis, who arrived in 2003, 2006 and 2009 respectively, this is a family business that dates back to 1920; 5 ha at its origins, 90 ha today. A flagship estate in the Haut-Layon region, renowned in particular for its red wines, but also very much at ease with white and rosé wines. A (very) safe bet.

Huge disappointment, you have to buy the red Anjou in this area but leave out the Anjou villages, a wine that leaves a harshness in the mouth and a flavor much less delicate than the simple Anjou du Petit clocher, which has a beautiful typicity even though it's much less expensive than the villages... Proof that price doesn't always make the bottle.
