Catherine and Pierre Breton
Bourgueil
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2021) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the domain :
For more than two decades, Catherine and Pierre Breton and their son Paul have been proving that organic wines from the Touraine region can reach new heights, yet still be affordable. Their long macerations ensure that the velvety texture of all their crus complements the purity of their fruit. Cuvées de Bourgueil, which account for 10 hectares, regularly feature in our blind tastings. Trinch is a straightforward wine, and the great cuvées must be decanted 2 to 3 hours before serving to bring out the juiciness of nuits-d'ivresse, the purity of perrières and the chalky touch of clos-sénéchal. One of the Loire's most refreshing addresses, to be discovered without restraint!
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Rated (2020 guide) 15/20 (Vintage 2017) (Good wine)
Domaine rated (guide 2021) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the domain :
For over twenty years, Catherine and Pierre Breton have been successfully forging their own organic wine path in Touraine. Their son Paul has joined them on the domaine, and vinifies the Pierres Rousses Vouvray. The fine, soft tannins of the long macerations can be found in the delicious cuvées de soif Trinch and Avis de Vin Fort, which are low in sulfur and designed to be drunk young. The terroir wines (Clos Sénéchal, Les Perrières and Nuits d'Ivresse, made from Grand-Mont and Busardières vines), more intense, have never shown as much finesse and precision as in recent vintages, while retaining a slightly wild texture that gives them great depth. They also age very well.

Phenolic, strong volatile acidity, really no charm for this wine.
