"Still as good as ever, with its bright, fresh red fruit, this Clos de Turpenay cannot be forgotten by the lover of good wine. Fine tannins and a powdery definition close to cachou and rosehip in persistence." (Les Meilleurs Vins de France 2016 - Gault Millau). A very long, seductive Chinon!

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated (2017 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)
Domaine rated (guide 2024) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
The wine takes shape and positions itself well on the palate.
About the domain :
The new generation at the helm of the Bonnaventure family, Jean and Tatiana, are taking this historic estate, planted with vines as far back as the 14th century, and whose 12-hectare vineyard almost disappeared after the serious phylloxera crisis, to the next level. The age of the vines and the emphasis on organic farming have contributed to the growing success of this estate, which offers excellent value for money. Recommended range, serious address.

RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Wine rated (2017 guide) 16.5/20 (Very good wine)
Domaine rated (guide 2024) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winegrowers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the wine:
Dense and juicy, the 2012 presents itself better today.
About the domain :
The estate has been in the Bonnaventure family since the Middle Ages, when the vines of the historic Château de Turpenay were planted. In 1988, Étienne and Pascale de Bonnaventure began to expand the estate. They revived the spirit of the great wines of Beaumont, the first step of the Chinon appellation, on the Loire side, where the more oceanic-influenced Cabernets gain in lace and fruit finesse, compared to those of the eastern part of the appellation. Today, Château de Coulaine produces a brilliant range of organic Chinons, combining fresh fruit and textural elegance. The vintages do not erase the expression of the terroirs: the suppleness (Beaumont clay and silica) in Château de Coulaine and the fresh firmness of the clay-limestone soils in Les Picasses, Clos de Turpenay (south-facing) and La Diablesse (in its old vine, north-facing version). Since January 2017, Jean de Bonnaventure, son of Étienne and Pascale, has been at the helm of the estate.
