Wine rated 15/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2024 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About wine:

Fresh and rich, this is an exotic dessert wine, well-balanced, refined and rounded.

About the estate:

This 45-hectare vineyard, 80% of which is planted with Chenin, produces all styles of white wine. René makes the wine, while his older brother Christophe works in the vineyards. They don't use organic methods, but the soil is worked "their way." The same care prevails in the cellar, with a variety of vats of all kinds (stainless steel, cement, cylindrical, underground, 30 hl wooden vats by Stockinger, etc.), suitable for crafting nuanced and complex wines. Sweet wines are the estate's great strength, as is the Savennières series (13 hectares), which is impeccably balanced. The small rosé and red cuvées are a notch below, and the whites tasted this year are too inconsistent to retain the third BD rating.

Rated estate Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

This 46-hectare estate, created from the merger of two family farms, has been run by René Papin since 2010. It is particularly renowned for the quality of its white wines, both dry and sweet. Not to be missed.

Review and opinion by Mr. THIERRY N. Published on February 14, 2021

Superb The 2014 vintage in the Loire Valley is truly exceptional for sweet wines. The Pierre Bise winery has become a true benchmark in this region. This wine strikes a perfect balance between alcohol and acidity, showcasing the Chenin grape variety to perfection.
