"Here's a favorite that confirms the consistent quality of the domaine's wines. In this case, a cuvée born of sixty-year-old vines rooted in clay-limestone soil, aged for twelve months in oak barrels, with aromas of weathered wood against a background of blackberry jelly. Dense, unctuous, powerful and fleshy on the palate, supported by a solid tannic structure that leaves us serene about this wine's future". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2018)

Rated (2018 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)

Domain rated 1*Star (A serious, commendable production, in keeping with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))

About the wine:

Energetic tannins and lovely fruit.

About the domain :

The result of a long family history, Domaine Bruneau-Dupuy is now run by Sylvain. Since 2012, the vineyard has been in organic conversion. The estate covers an area of 20 hectares, protected by forest to the north. Half of the vineyard is located on south-facing slopes, covered with old vines planted on clay-limestone soils. The wines produced from these vines are full-bodied and long on the palate. The other half of the vineyard is planted in sandy soils, producing lighter, fruitier wines to be enjoyed young. At less than 15 euros, the wines offer good value for money.

A very typical Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil with its characteristic terroir taste, already open despite the tannins still present. Will probably be even better in 1 or 2 years. I love it!
