"It's starting to open up, its finish is still tannic, powerful, unctuous." (Le Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France 2015). An intense nose evoking notes of ripe fruit for an intense, fruity red, offering a beautiful tannic structure, velvety and silky, with a rich, concentrated finish... A very fine Saint-Nicolas!

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated (2015 guide) 15.5/20 (Very good wine)
Estate rated (2018 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
It's starting to open up, and the finish is still tannic, powerful and unctuous.
About the domain :
Gérald Vallée insists on respect for the grapes, and strives to convey in his wines all the elegance and delicacy that the appellation's highly varied terroir allows.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Domaine rated 1*Star (Serious production)
About the domain :
Gérald Vallée farms 27 hectares of Cabernet Franc, all of which have been converted to organic farming, with all the care one can imagine: tilling the soil, thinning out the leaves... All the grapes are grown in the Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil appellation. In the cellar, no yeast or enzymes are added to the vats.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Wine rated (2015 guide) 15/20 (Good wine)
Domaine noté (guide 2018) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and that, as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the wine:
Les Perruches 2012 offers a sharp profile.
About the domain :
Gérald Vallée set himself the challenge of switching to manual harvesting in 2004, when 90% of the Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil appellation was still machine-picked. Good for him, because his wines, which used to appear episodically in our tastings of each new vintage, have since earned their stripes as great Cabernet Francs. We love the precise fruitiness of the entry-level wines, the chalky tension expressed in Le Vau Jaumier, a hillside cleared twenty years ago, and the mellow spirit of L'Envolée, a deep, opulent Bourgueil.

This is a very good wine, unfortunately not favored by this vintage. We must come back to it.
