"This is a very convincing wine because it is concentrated, with lively, ripe fruit, which was not obvious in 2013 in this area. Gérard Vallée's talent is all the more evident... " (Le Guide des bonnes affaires du vin 2015 - Gerbelle & Maurange). A red wine with soft tannins and a lovely length on the palate, combining all the elements to delight even the most discerning palates... Not to be missed!

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2025 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

By converting his Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil vineyard to organic farming, Gérald Vallée has undertaken a thorough process of respecting the grapes. His wines reflect all the elegance and delicacy that the appellation's varied terroir allows. The range is astonishing from the very first wines, which are elegant, distinguished, deep, and flavorful. There is something for everyone in this range of very reasonably priced wines.

1*Star rating (Serious production)

About the estate:

Gérald Vallée cultivates 27 hectares of Cabernet Franc, entirely converted to organic farming, with all the care that this entails: soil preparation, leaf removal, etc. The entire production is sold under the Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil appellation. In the cellar, no yeast or enzymes are added to the vats.

Wine rated (2015 guide) 14,5/20 (Good wine)

Rated estate (2026 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About wine:

Concentrated, with ripe, lively fruit, La Croisée 2013 is impressive.

About the estate:

The meticulous Gérald Vallée leaves nothing to chance in his winemaking process, which involves wooden vats and barrel aging. He produces full-bodied, seductive Cabernet Franc wines with smooth tannins that make them accessible when young, but also give them good aging potential. The latest vintages have gained considerably in fruit brightness, bringing them closer to the freshness of their terroir. The "fruit-forward" La Croisée cuvée is made with spontaneity, while Les Perruches is tactfully styled in wooden vats to highlight the identity of these flinty clay soils. On the Coteau du Vau Jaumier, Cabernet Franc reveals an inimitable smoothness and "sandy texture." And Postumus? A marvel of Cabernet Franc vinified in whole bunches with citrus and rose tones, an extraordinary wine for the region and indeed for the rest of the world. The added sparkle and freer expressions, while remaining very precise, invite us to award a second star.
