Domaine Yannick Amirault - Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil Les Malgagnes 2023
2*Coup de Coeur
Hachette
"A truly great Loire wine of great finesse. Succumb to its incredible charm!"
Les Malgagnes is the estate's historic vineyard, with ochre, clay, and limestone soils, ideally located on the hillside above the village. Yannick Amirault produces a flamboyant 2023 vintage, aged in barrels and jars, colorful, with expansive aromas of red fruits, toasted hazelnuts, and vanilla. The palate is luscious and already very open, offering the sweetness of the vintage, complemented here by silky tannins and ideal freshness. The balance is perfect, the aging judicious, the length just right: a great Breton wine and another favorite from this leading winemaker." (Le Guide Hachette 2026)

About the estate:
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Rated estate (2026 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the estate:
Benoît arrived at the family estate in Bourgueil in 2003 to continue the family adventure started by his father Yannick in 1997. Two-thirds of the vineyard is located in Bourgueil, with the rest in the neighboring Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil appellation. You can sense the winemakers' perfectionism and their desire to express the terroir through very silky and civilized Cabernet Franc wines that retain their vibrant fruitiness. The estate has been certified organic since 2009 and the wines are gaining in purity every year thanks to increasingly precise vinification methods (conical wooden vats, barrels and stoneware jars). The 2022 and 2023 vintages delight us with their frank, clear expression and finesse.
