"On the edge of the Coulée de Serrant
"This complex, mineral white, with its open notes of white peach and quince, lacks neither fatness nor volume. A fine representative of the appellation, combining presence and persistence". (Le Guide Hachette 2023) The Roche aux Moines site overlooks the Loire and the small village of Savennières. A complex, delicate Loire white, with a fine balance between botrytis and minerality!

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domain rated (guide 2024) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the domain :
This 45-hectare vineyard, 80% of which is planted with Chenin, produces all styles of white wine. René vinifies, while his older brother Christophe works the vines. Not organic, of course, but the soils are worked "their way". In the cellar, the same care prevails, with a variety of vats of all kinds (stainless steel, cement, cylindrical, underground, Stockinger 30-hl wooden vats, etc.), capable of chiseling out nuanced, complex wines. The sweet wines are the estate's greatest strength, as is the 13-hectare Savennières series, impeccable in its precision. The small rosé and red cuvées are a step below, and the whites tasted this year are too irregular to retain the third BD.
Guide Hachette des vins
Wine rated (guide 2023) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
Domain Rated Award-winning wines (Wines from this producer regularly win awards in the guide)
About the wine:
Tailor-made maturing in foudres and jars, this complex, mineral white wine, open to white peach and quince, lacks neither fatness nor volume. A fine representative of the appellation, combining presence and persistence.
About the domain :
This 46-hectare estate, born of the merger of two family farms, has been run by René Papin since 2010. An estate particularly renowned for the quality of its white wines, both dry and sweet. Not to be missed.
