"This Valençay reveals a flattering nose of black fruit and cherry brandy. Round, fleshy, supported by smooth, velvety tannins, the palate combines power and freshness, with a long finish. Good character and potential ". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2019). Claux Delorme's Valençay rouge brings together the 4 grape varieties of the AOC: Gamay, Côt, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir, grown on a flinty clay terroir. The result is a complex, dense and precise cuvée with very round fruit. Ideal for discovering this little-known appellation.

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2019 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Domaine rated (guide 2024) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
With 17 hectares, Bertrand Minchin, a jovial and engaging winegrower, is one of the established names in the Menetou-Salon and Valençay appellations. With each passing vintage, he refines the style of his reds, which are among the best in the area, while his imposing, structured whites gain in precision. Superb value for money.

About the wine:

About the domain :
An established name in the menetou-salon appellation with his Dom. la Tour Saint-Martin, Bertrand Minchin, equally at ease with reds and whites, has been established since 1987 at the head of 17 ha of vines on the heights of Morogues, in conversion to organic farming. In 2004, he expanded into the Valençay appellation with the 15 ha of Claux Delorme, in Selles-sur-Cher, and quickly established himself as a benchmark.

Domaine noté (guide 2024) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the domain :
Bertrand Minchin is present in Morogues, a Menetou-Salon cru, with the domaine La Tour Saint Martin, and also in Valençay (Claux Delorme) - two operations grouped together within Domaines Minchin. The Valençays are joyful and upright: the Menetou-Salon cuvées are vinified with precision. The Sauvignons reflect the expression of their place thanks to a meticulous touch, as in the skilfully crafted reds. Since 2022, the estate has been certified Organic.

This wine is marvellously astonishing, fine and subtle, with redcurrant, cherry and ripe fruit...BUT be careful, you must aerate it THREE hours before drinking it, as it is young and still contains a lot of CO2, which changes its taste! Otherwise a pure marvel...2 stars in the Guide Hachette des vins and 16/20 in Dessauve and Beltanne....for less than 8€. I love...
