This tinted Porto imposes its style. Aromas dance and intermingle to the rhythm of cinnamon, dried fruit and blue flowers. The ballet continues on the palate, where woody, coffee bean and sweet spice notes are added. A fine representative of its appellation.

Time goes by and my disenchantment grows. Heady on the palate, with aromas of dried fruit and toast, lifted by oxidizing notes of walnut and an ungainly, overly prominent woodiness. In short, a Port which, in my humble opinion, is disharmonious and unbalanced, perhaps due to over-ripening caused by long, poorly controlled ageing in oak barrels. In any case, this high-priced Quevedo is far from my standards of a rich Port, with a creamy, satiny texture and fine, round, supple tannins that I enjoy as an aperitif or with 70% chocolate.

An engaging nose of candied and dried fruit. On the palate, in contrast to, say, a Niepoort or an Andresen 10yo, there's a big difference. Here, the alcoholic note dominates, with the body coming discreetly afterwards, on candied fruit and raisins. Whereas in the former, the overall impression is much more coherent, integrating all the elements into a magnificent synthesis. I'll have another look at this rating, which amazes even me!

Nose: walnut dominates, woody. Palate: cfr nose, impression too sweet. 16/20 To be sipped in small doses.
